A lotta hot air.

Flying in to blow smoke, David Brooks still doesn't get it:

Last night I was up in Boston moderating a panel discussion sponsored by the National Hockey League on environmental and global warming issues. (Hockey players like ice and want to preserve frozen ponds.) I could tell you that I flew up just so I could talk about carbon sequestration, but the real reason I did it was so I could do a panel in Fenway Park and meet Mike Richter.

Richter is the greatest American-born goalie of all time. He led the Rangers to the only Stanley Cup of my lifetime. Since his remarkable hockey career, he went to Yale and now works at an environmentally oriented investment firm. He’s very impressive.

Apparently the conservative columnist caught the fever; he's up for cap-n'-trade legislation, however imperfect, to protect us Americans from making our own market-based choices. Thank heavens these columnists and policymakers are always looking out for us -- protecting us from our own better instincts, so to speak.

Maybe -- keep your fingers crossed! -- he'll get to meet the great Wayne Gretzky at the next fly in? Or the one after that? (You know there's got to be multiple in-person talk-fest meetings to find the economic solutions to this problem, and meet the full slew of green celebrities. Can I get an autograph for my kid while I'm busy saving the planet here?)

p.s. Gotta love those phallic graphics illustrating Gail and David's conversation. But ... what will you do next week, for an encore? Save some strength for the next time out.
