Beware the ...

Reportedly,
here's the full quote from Hoffa, speaking at the rally:

HOFFA: Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much!

Whoosh-o! *wiping my brow* Violent disaster ... averted.

But it's interesting how a law professor -- two law professors* -- went for it so fully. Convinced totally, on an abridged quote, that the union workers were allegedly taking up arms and coming, violently, for the non-working class...

Funny thing is, not sure about Reynolds, but I'm pretty sure Althouse is in a professional state professorial union herself, so talk about wanting to have it both ways ... eat your taxpayer-financed, special-interest, fanciest-of-the-fancy cake, and then condemn it (the gorging at the trough) too.

My beef always was: you don't get to define the language, based on your own isolated ivory perches and professorial "this is how it is, the only proper interpretation" method of analyzing facts and language. Especially when you're not working, engaging fully, with the source material.

Pretty shoddy thinking, really...
Beware those ellipses now!
