Coloring the News, or N**ga wha?

Seriously? There's a controversy, based on an old name that contained a racial slur? Man... they's really mining the bottom of the barrel these days, 'terms a " scandalous news".

You can thank the hip hop playahs of years past (much much closer in the past than those naming places down in Texas, that is...)

You can't pull up at a stoplight in some areas, without the filth spilling from the car next to you. Let's not forget how many hip hop "artists" were made rich offa shocking the youth! with their embrace of the N word...

Now, honestly? After desensitizing so many ears, even those not embracing the hip hop community values -- or lack of -- or enjoying the "music".

Either "n**ga" is off limits, dead and buried, as many black elders had preferred, or youse gots to gets over yourselves. I'm so sick, of the Obama presidency, bringing to the forefront all these young men "but great, great great grandpa X" was a ... SLAVE in this country.

And now, while your grandma working in the mainstream might be shocked! (shocked, I tells ya!) by Rick Perry's latest scandal, I think it's pretty much laughable as an issue to anyone under 35 or 40.

Tell ya what: you scrub clean the language of all the pop hip hop shock, and then maybe we'll all play along with the "sorry sorry sorry, what a racist country we still are" nonsense that scandals like these are supposed to enable.


Until then though, let me tell you: Northern whites ought to be thanked, if you know your history, and trying to lump us all as Whitey who benefitted from your ancestors' slave days... and therefore "owe" apologies or some other nonsense...

Turn up your music, work out your anger, and then tell me what's so off limits about a word that your peers have embraced for their own commercial ends? Niggerhead. The man owned rented a ranch, commonly referred to at the time as Niggerhead. Really: that's all you got? (oh, and one person in the debate audience not-so-audibly booed a gay soldier's take on policy. Let's not forget the "shock!" of that one...)

ADDED: You'd think with all this: Police Brutality! nonsense in the news lately, that more men of that persuasion would be offering up their own sons -- study hard to pass those tests now! -- for service in uniform, police firefighter or EMT.

Sadly,
seems some just want to sit back, and collect their checks for complaining. Funny, I don't remember so much of this racial empowerment before we elected a poorly qualified junior senator and former community organizer to the top job...

Maybe, like with Mayor Harold Washington, we wise up soon, and don't do that again? Meaning ... wait for the qualifications first, the "action" part of the resume....
