Chicago's Cardinal Blase Cupich on the Fire Ravaging the City...

President Trump is addressing a problem that President Obama could not or would not:

Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Chicago’s archbishop, who was being honored by the city council, urged its members to take on the epidemic of violence, which he compared to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

“Today, another fire is ravaging our city, our neighborhoods,” the cardinal said. “When violence has become a terrible way of life, families and neighborhoods need to know by what we say and what we do that they are not on their own.”

Some city leaders said they welcomed Mr. Trump’s thoughts on how to reduce violence. Bridget Gainer, a Cook County commissioner, said Chicago residents were “all ears.”
