40 Arrested Overnight in Brooklyn Center
Business break-ins and lootings were down: only the Dollar Tree was started on fire and shelves cleared, compared to 20 businesses hit in BC's Shingle Creek mall the night before, and 7 businesses in St. Paul.
I wonder how the writers, actors and acressses will handle the property damage jokes this coming Saturday night? Wig her up right, and Kate McKinnon would make a fine Amy Potter and topical humor is the most challenging but with the most potential for actual on-the-ground impact. (Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters?)
Just sayin. Ain't playin.

* Just an aside, but... we're making progress in the world if Israel is beginning to admit responsibility for attacks inside other countries like Iran. Next, they will cop to some of the extra-judicial assasinations -- strategical moves allegedly to pre-empt violence and protect her people. "Might Makes Right", no need for justice or due process when you live in perpetual war with your neighbors I suspect.
In other news, Brooklyn Center does not have the deep pockets of Minneapolis. Even if they wanted, I doubt the working-class, mixed-race suburb can come anywhere close to offering $27 million to settle any civil lawsuits brought on behalf of Duante Wright by famed attorney Ben Crump on behalf of the family. And Kim Potter, the head of her police union, likely fully understands what behaviors can be classified as criminal and has been fully trained in responding to critical incidents, which she found herself in on Sunday after allegedy mistaking her Taser for her service weapon.
I wonder, if the families are compensated, the communities cared for via more and more government programs, if more systemic change might come if we don't hang alleged police crimes on individuals but on the systems in which they operate. Because tossing them off the force, and putting a select few behind bars doesn't really change much.
It's the culture 21st century America is operating in, with our belief in superpowers and being too big to fail. Not all Americans play those games though because not everybody walks away from such losses made whole, or even on their feet.
How can you preach against violence or guns or dominance by force when as Americans we accept this mindset creeping into our daily lives, replacing more traditional values of Western culture?

ADDED: You know, I've been reading in some of America's national papers, published on the coasts, these fears of white supremacists, replacement theorists, and general conspiracists. (I don't have cable or strong Internet, so mostly I read and don't view, which helps a lot because you have to choose what you consume, peruse, skim and winnow...
I don't see it here in the Midwest: the alleged white fear of demographic replacement, so why are these stories/propaganda breaking into the mainstream now? I wondered what our coastal friends are seeing. Today, I read this and it makes sense that demographics perhaps more robustly represented in urban areas and on the coasts who help prepare our national news diets, and entertainments, are subconsciously sharing, and spreading, their own fears, perhaps?
