This man will be okay...

It's the ones who become hardened to the violence -- who accept killings and wars as everyday occurrences and go on amassing in their own lives without thought for others; the ones who don't puke a little bit every time they glance at a newspaper -- who are truly affected.  What are these endless wars doing to American society?  (wait, don't answer that.  Pick up a paper...)

Marco Meza, 38, a building painter, said he lives near the site of the shooting and saw people running for their lives on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he said he was still in shock.

“It’s too hard, man,” he said, as his eyes reddened and filled with tears.

Part of him no longer wants to ride the subway anymore, he said. But his instinct was to fight it.

“I have to do it,” he said. “I have to wake up every morning and do my things.”
