Zelensky Welcomes Pledges to Hold Russia Accountable for Crimes
It's a war, people.
Anything goes in war nowadays, wars waged in civilian parts because there are no battlefields anymore and the designation "infantry" has no meaning really: anyone in uniform or occupying land where the warriors rage is fair game.
If we are going to pretend Russian soldiers did something out of the ordinary to protect themselves and their brothers in arms, let's start with what America did during our foreign wars of choice this century.
If we're going to cite war crimes, god knows, America has plenty of criminals living amongst us. The one on the ranch in Texas -- who make the jokes at the Correspondents' Dinner all those years ago searching in the hamper and under the bed: "Nope, no weapons of mass destruction here either... Golly gee, aren't I a cute one?" and his henchman wearing a younger person's beating heart in his body out in Wyoming -- start there. String them us first...
Colin Powell is mercifully gone, he likely could not forgive himself and was an honest enough man to admit what he had done. Mummy and Poppy Bush too -- gone to the ages. Their children turned out to be an abomination before their eyes, and they knew it too...
But the living? The ones benefitting off what WE did? If we're going to seriously "try" the soldiers on the field today, fighting for their own lives, then let's stop at least rewarding those who ... "did a tour" and cost our own country so much, as well as sacrificing up millions of innocents in order to "serve".
It's ugly war. We try to champion one side over the other, but it's an ugly fucking mess. Why the American "leaders" and people continue to pretend otherwise amazes me. We're better than this, and we look stupid pointing our fingers at evil, while pretending it's not here living in our country today too.
