Can We Be Honest?
Sometimes, the things people admire in others, seeing them as "strong" are not really character attributes. Like this:
Up until now, Trump has managed to slink away from innumerable seamy episodes, from bankruptcies to vile personal misconduct, by proclaiming himself a victim. I was trepidatious, after watching the lame performances of James Comey and Robert Mueller. But Jack Smith seems to be bringing an impressive skill set and temperament to his prosecution of Trump. Maybe he developed them in his years nailing war criminals at The Hague.
Trump ranted on Friday about Smith being “a deranged psycho.” Naturally, he also attacked Smith’s wife, the award-winning documentarian Katy Chevigny, who produced a documentary about Michelle Obama and contributed to Joe Biden’s campaign, as “the biggest Hater of them all.” But Smith is not likely to be cowed.
The guy’s tenacious. In an interview a few years ago, Smith discussed his passion for Ironman competitions. He talked about the time he got hit by a truck while riding his bike and fractured his pelvis. He was back doing a triathlon 10 weeks later.

I have never once in my career evaluated a lawyer's skills for how he recovered from a broken pelvis. (or deducted points if he were dumb enough as a grown man to get hit by a truck in the first place/not very masculine =another way of thinking.) Move your eyes further North, Ms. Dowd. Up to his brain.
Thinking about a manly pelvis, and relating that to his job performance... let's just be glad Maureen has no hiring power, eh?
The only thing missing from Maureen's positive profile: how many sons does Smith have? She's trying to keep up, but she doesn't understand how the GenX men coming into the power establishment -- DeSatnis, Musk, Walsh, Vance, Douthat, etc. -- think nowadays. (It's not the pelvis itself you're creaming over, Maureen. It's the power inherent. hth.)
