Maureen and Peggy Dowd are up for a Pulitzer...

for this column she did, pressing President Biden to acknowledge his granddaughter by son Hunter and his sex worker during the time he was drug addicted.  (Frank Bruni with the assist, strokin.)

Maureen wrote about sister Peggy's letter to her president on July 8.  Hunter's plea deal fell apart in court last week...  On Friday, news dropped that the Bidens are ready to meet and greet this little blonde girl as the Biden campaign desperately flails about trying to revamp their failing campaign.

American television sitcom viewers recognize this move: an aging tv show is faring badly in the ratings so they bring in a cute kid to try and help up the ratings in the final season. So there's that...

African-Americans and other grandparents raising the children of their own drug-addicted offspring likely don't look too well on a wealthy white couple that turns their back on their own; it doesn't poll well, so there's that...

Plus, as I wrote on Subsumed back on Saturday morning, June 24 -- six weeks ago, criticizing Nick Kristof in a column who wrote praising Joe Biden for standing by his boy Hunter:

(Hint:  This isn't "fair" coverage.  Think of Navy Biden, people.  Don't deny the innocent little girl to defend the president's ... "boy".  That's all he'll ever be because you all are determined to protect the Biden "boy".  It is probably good the other one -- the good son -- has passed so he's not dragged into this spectacle, eh?)

ADDED: Just to be squeaky-clear: he's not a bachelor pulling tricks here. He Has Responsibilities. He made those responsibilities himself. His Choice(s). He needs to be a Man taking care of his business, and Jill and Joe should back off and let him get treated fairly...  Hth.
  He
(Spinning this special treatment as "unconditional love" is kinda sickening to all the parents of the dead kids and those in prison -- or paying child support best they can and trying to build a real relatonship with their offspring -- who don't get SpecialTreatment.  I'm not even touching on the Ukraine business here, note.  This is why, whether he runs or not I suspect, Joe Biden will be a one-term president.  Damn though -- if he plays his cards right, and just holds the rudder steady for the remainder -- he will go down in history as an efficient one-termer, and there is nothing at all wrong with that (we need more efficiency, America!)...

We just don't need the Hate Crew following up on his stable term of righting the ship, and unless the Dems get their act together and acknowlege what is happening... let's just say they are so busy picking off Trump they don't understand that one way or another -- unless they get their act together; still time, always still time, efficiency remember? -- a Republican uglier than they've seen is going to take the presidency...

Reading the tea leaves:  how can Joe Biden hold the country together for another 4?  Honestly?  He was the Somebody Somebody Sent, in the style of the late Machine politics, and again -- he efficiently served his political purposes.  If ya love him -- and God loves ya, Joe -- you understand it's time to let him go back home full time, in full retirement to take it easy... He's earned that.

it just feels like with the Trump prosecution, and Biden struggling to run for another term, there's an awful lot of over-reaching going on now in the nation's capitol, and eventually something is going to slip...
