Remember when Reagan broke the Air Traffic Controllers Union by Firing / Replacing Them?

Why can't Hollywood do that with their aging actors, comics and writers?

Hire the outside unknows from across the globe like we've been doing in so many other American businesses.

Watch Out for the Fake Tom Cruise

Everybody is replaceable.  What if the studios just called the bluff?  Plenty of people, Americans plus, would be willing to cross picket lines to get acting or writing jobs, I bet...

Free markets. Open competition.  If you don't want the work, there is always somebody who does...

(Celebrities are made, not born.  If you can create in the marketplace, you should be able to work, no matter who is installed as gatekeepers blocking the door, or who they're putting down the welcome mat and buffet tables up for.)

I think if we had a truly diverse group of talent in our entertainment sector, we would get art that meets the needs of the nation, not the needs of the people making money selling entertainment product.

Ditto with journalism and reporting.  We need to do more, not less.

We don't create art in this country to address our social problems or represent our communities anymore.  Shame. America once did that well.

The "jackpot winners" belched up by the affirmative-action industry in past decades are too often but darker-toned imitations of their paler brothers and sisters who themselves inherited their powers.  Not much talent at the top...  Rerun legacies, fading faces forced on us.

We see that, we've been watching the decline in quality and subject matter, even if we don't always go see or pay to stream the products they've created.  It's not art really.  It's business.  It's not for everyone.  Shame.
