You've Got to Ask Youself One Question: "Do You Feel Lucky, Punk?"
"Well, do ya?"
Instinct in life is a lot. It helps us survive sorry situations, knowing when freeze and when to run. It's easy to whip up Hate/hate, and point at Evil/evil people. You better know when they're pointing at you. "Protecting the children" has led America into unjust wars, imprisoned and killed black men and others, and fueled hate crimes where perpetrators are never brought to justice...
The battle over beer, or burlap-sack-like dresses, is nothing. But it's telling that the TradFolk are so juiced up on their hate, that they would threaten -- publicly in print -- to stop buying and wearing their favorite dresses (because their closets are likely already full; how many dresses can a traditional stay-at-home Mom really have, afterall?) all because a man who looks suspiciously like her husband was seen modeling one and enthusing about the fit.
"It's MY dress. You can't wear it too!" I don't think it will work, because I don't think for most women their hatred of trans people will overwhelm their preferred wardrobe choices. This isn't about shooting up a case or two of beer. (or drinking down what you have in stock, and resupplying with another lite brand).
This is about trashing what's in YOUR closet because you want to sever the ties with a brand that is inclusive. It's going to take dollars to damage the brand. And you'll have to wean women off that particular dress-style, because it's not as easy to replace as a lite-beer brand...
I hope Ms. Mandel rethinks things. Nobody will think she is a trans woman if she wears Son De Flor. And nobody will think her husband buys her those dresses and sneaks one on to wear at home either. Don't worry, Ms. Mandel. You are a woman, be secure in knowing that, no matter how you dress?
