Top Comment on an Ann Althouse (former law professor) comments thread today

"What if the treatment for gender dysphoria is a lobotomy?"

She allegedly moderates the comments.  This one made it through as the first one, setting the tone for the thread.  Can you imagine this woman directing a class discussion today, and silencing those people who would call out comments like the above?

America, america, this is you!  (That change of the OldGuard cannot come soon enough.  Like they haven't taken enough, some of these overpaid underthinking boomers over the years, but they try to poison the discussion well for those coming up...)

So fucking sad.  No Ann, the treatment is not a lobotomy.  hahaha.  So fucking funny I forgot to laugh.  Glad you got a chuckle... #CheapHumor

* Here's another, from one of her "star" commenters, a Nebraska attorney who has been active in passing anti-trans bills in his state:

For some reason, people want to harm themselves. Like Vivek says, they have a hole in their hearts so they fill it with this or climate change or transgenderism.  The Left has created a destructive mess.

Can you imagine others being mocked for their choice of medical treatment?  And egged on by a former law professor?

This is why you don't use affirmative-action when you are in need of some "underrepresented" class of persons like EastCoastWhiteWomen to hire former arts undergrads to teach at a midwestern university that serves the masses.

Diversity means taking all comers in public state schools.  Head back East if you like private schools and hand-picking the viewpoints you support, and shutting out those who object to your teachings and limited (so very limited) point of view?  #GoodRiddance

Another:

This is a thinly veiled insult at women who choose to live a traditional life of taking care of the home and children while her husband provides for the family.

Yeah, because when Other people do not fit into the cookie-cutter mold, we are against that role for all our straight sisters?  NOT.  (Don't put your prejudices on me!  There's room for many types of people in our country today, with equal legal rights despite differing demographics.  #DiversityInPracticeNotJustMouthed)

Still more (like she's proud to host this discussion amonst her commenters/donors)):

“What if the treatment for gender dysphoria is a lobotomy?”  It would certainly reduce the suicide rate in that demographic as the main effect.

Lobotomy?  Lobotomyou!  Lobotomus.

and finally, the ex-professor weighs in on all the jokes.  As if, living in Wisconsin, she is good with restricting the medical options men (and women too) can choose as necessary healthcare options to save their lives...  It's called Freedom of Choice, ann.  Where a person consults not only with their doctors -- a complete medical team of educated people unlike those piddly people like you spouting off without scientific understanding -- and as an adult is able to give informed consent, understanding and accepting what it known about any current risks AND benefits... -- to CHOOSE the medical treatment that will best help them in life.  #ChooseFreedom

Blogger Ann Althouse said...

"So they're not really loboted?"

It is a thinkable thought, isn't it? That people living today, in America, might decide they want a lobotomy, demand it, and get it from licensed doctors, with insurance reimbursement.
