Claiming a Scalp.

Noboby found problems with her scholarship though until she didn't give answers that properly appeased pro-Israel supporters after the Congressional performance that was skewered on SNL.  Come on. There are plenty of "whites" with less scholarship credits, yet the academy continues to grind on. Plenty of plagiarists in all professions, plenty caught too, and yet still practicing...

Great thoughts, Bret. As you correctly point out she has minimal scholarly accomplishments with only 11 journal articles and one co-authored book. Her work has been cited two times and her last paper was in 2017. She joined the Stanford faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2000 and in 2005 was promoted to Assoc. Professor with tenure. In 2006 she was recruited to Harvard as full Professor with tenure. Six years from Assistant to full Professor is incredibly short by anyone's standards and usually only occurs with academic superstars, which she clearly is not. With her record of "scholarship" the bigger question that is begged is how she was granted tenure at both Stanford and Harvard.

Claiming a scalp here does not change anything about the way the academic business works anymore than putting one Minneapolis officer up for charges after a death recreated the way officers were trained and did business for years...

This isn't systematic change scapegoating Claudine Gay.  It's simply tossing meat to the pro-Israel crowd and pretending you've made a difference in the country.  You haven't.  You've just claimed your scalp, and protected your own sacred cow.  Israel.

I don't think this will engender more U.S. support though.  Especially from non-white voters and those still coming up in the current system unprotected.  Scalps don't matter. Change does...

He's Jewish too, did we mention that?  Much more palatable candidate to please those calling for Gay's scalp for not standing up to the alleged anti-Semitism at Harvard University today.  And all those other campuses where young thinkers congregate...

Our current president Joe Biden is a known plagiarist as well.  If this issue was important enough to merit removing a black president from a university, voters surely can expect some questions for their national leader currently running for a second term who promised he would provide unity and stability to our country and all its peoples...

You'd hate to think this was just a weapon used against a successful black woman, that white men -- and women --have shrugged off for decades whilst continuing in their own very public, financially lucractive careers.  If we're gonna have rules to the game, enforce them fairly, not selectively...

The "identity class" movement didn't begin yesterday, nor is Ms. Gay the only one benefitting off the way the game has been played for at least a generation now... If the game is no good, start seeing other qualified competitors, non Jewish ones too.  If stealing is bad, don't double down on ripping off the words and ideas of other lessers to advance your own.

Change is gonna come.  Don't be asleep confident you have enough stored up when the real fight for our nation's soul commences.  If we try to keep on keeping this aging system functioning as it is, the casualities in our own country will be great.  Look at the numbers of unsheltered people amassing on the streets of America already, and these allegedly are economic good times here at home...

We can't have a TopTier and a servant class.  We can't silence the critics who tell us what is coming if we continue to foster fear and promote a narrative that certain peoples don't answer to the rest of us in this country, and they can handpick jackpot winners to help them establish dominance in certain fields.  We can't "bomb" our way to a win, or lock up everybody who can't keep up and provide for themselves on a fixed field.

We need to reward the workers getting the jobs done, the thinkers pointing out the hard truths.  Those who continually advise:  we can't keep all the winnings at the top, particularly when they are ill-gotten gains from those "networked" into the current system and benefitting  more from their connections than their competency or work results...

You can't make your careers or your money just fixing the game to keep our others, thus making your own ideas and hand-picked candidates "win".  Silencing others and proclaiming your own ideas dominant doesn't work, no matter how much gunpower you have behind those ideas and how many people you think you have lined up as supporters.  America needs fixin' today more than ever...

Change is gonna come. Wait and see, or better yet?  Work for it.  Don't just cash the paychecks and call it a day...

Bob Menendez, despite his past, remains in Congress.  There is something very wrong in America today that needs fixing for real...

Maybe you don't see it, but the young people coming up do.  God help the elders who don't see what is coming in our country today and are certain they have it all "fixed" so their own can't lose.  If only they were half as smart as they think they are.  

...or were wise enough to listen to others who know better what is happening here.  Nope, just snarky remarks and everybody in on the game today, it seems.  Their loss.  

Ours too, nationally, it seems... unless things Change in this country soon and for real.
