What are the odds that if Hunter doesn't find justice doing prison time...

 ... that justice will find him one day outside of the prison?

Isn't that why it's good to do your time for your crime? SO that you've fully repaid for your sins against society.  Hunter was messing with a lot of Ukranian businessmen who are likely not going to be happy when Joe is out of office and President Trump delivers #Change in the region...

Maybe he'd be safer in prison in the coming years, protected in a minimal security place where all his kids who wanted could come visit?  Like a drug-treatment facility, with bars and a non-voluntary check-out date.
