God help us.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Divers pulled at least two more bodies from the wreckage of the collapsed Mississippi River bridge Thursday, bringing the disaster's confirmed death toll to seven, more than a week after the span crumbled. Later, authorities said one of those sets of remains might actually include another victim, which would bring the toll to eight if that is confirmed.

Maybe the Somalian woman had time to reach her 2-year-old from the backseat, and maybe hold her in her arms if it was a drowning and not a blunt-force death. I don't know why, but if it turns out they were brought up to the surface frozen in that position together, it would give me small comfort. Unless because she was pregnant, maybe they just brought up the mother's body, and they are counting that as two victims in one set of remains? Blunt force, a raging truck fire, drowning... I really hope it turns out that mother was given time to reach back, free her child from the car seat, and do all she could in the end to comfort her child. I'm sure we'll know more tomorrow.
