Progressive Pundits Excited by Perry.
Why? Because they see Obama easily taking him down, if he gets the primary nod.
Mitt Romney, the meme has it, is too weird and unlikeable to be elected. Not macho enough. Too compromising (in practice, not just in rhetoric like the president, who never seems to have a partner to practice with, it seems.) Then there's his pet-care weaknesses, and that religion that we won't mention because it would seem to be anti-American to bring that up, right?...
They're salivating over the macho man Rick. Surely he's a joke too. Easily beatable, right? Bring him on -- what a great seeding, it seems.
"Intelligence is overrated," Ta-Nehisi confidently proclaims, not just referring to his own career, but to the American presidency post-Bush-and-Obama, it seems.
I'm sure there some level of imbecility which would be too much for Americans, but it seems that the ability to understand and speak to the ambitions of a critical mass of the electorate is much more important. Intelligence might help that effort. But empathy--or at least the ability to communicate empathy--with your audience seems much more important.
Something always told me, they were reading Ricky wrong...

Remember:
"History proves that dictatorships do not grow out of strong and successful governments, but out of weak and helpless ones. If by democratic methods people get a government strong enough to protect them from fear and starvation, their democracy succeeds; but if they do not, they grow impatient. Therefore, the only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well informed enough to maintain its sovereign control over its government. We are a rich Nation; we can afford to pay for security and prosperity without having to sacrifice our liberties in the bargain. ~Franklin D. Roosevelt, Fireside Chat of April 14, 1938
It really can get worse.
Even for the traditionally "protected" classes.
