24 degrees in the country last night.
Doesn't much matter if you covered plants last night or not -- it will get down there again tonight, and a smattering of rain predicted up here this weekend.
Then, beautiful again, for the next 3 weeks.
I visited my two gardens yesterday morning and afternoon -- the spinach is making a comeback from the summer heat, the broccoli holding her own. Picked out the eggplants remaining, smaller ones too, noting the open purple blossoms just waiting to make more...
The pumpkins, a healthy harvest, sizewise and quantity, we had fun picking over Labor Day weekend, with my younger family members spotting them in the overgrown patch. It got chilly that weekend, but downright cold this morning.
Still, I love autumn.
Best season of all.
Hands down.
