Other Voices... Other Schools.

PSU alum Tom Peeling of The Palm Beach Post pushes back, explaining why the collective shame game is not played by all, and is not an accurate representation of the whole:

A week ago Saturday, when the scandal became news, I followed my usual routine and pulled a Penn State T-shirt out of the drawer. I looked at it, and put it back, afraid of the questions that might arise that day. Driving to work this week, I felt as if people were staring at my car, with its Penn State Nittany Lion window stickers and vanity PS LIONS Florida plate.

But this weekend, I'll proudly pull one of those T-shirts out of the drawer and put it on. Penn State is more than Joe Paterno. It's more than Saturday football. It's a lot more than a few over-exuberant students tipping over a satellite TV truck in protest of the university's decision to fire Paterno.

It's a way of life, and no former employee charged with child molestation can take that away from us.
