Do you think your school sometimes has a hostile environment for people of color, or for anyone who is in the minority there? If so, how much does that concern you?

Students: Write Ms. Schulten a letter asking if she thinks her automatic assumptions about racial victimization places obstacles in your learning paths. Do you think she understands racial discrimination? Why or why not? How is your response based on the limited personal characteristics you can identify from her name (race, ethnicity, gender)? How would you write a question prompt more openly to spur discussion?
