It Was the Local Democratic "Driving While Black" Controversy She Wants to Steer Clear Of...

With so much of today's party strategy built on the need to cater to B/black voters' support, the Biden administration just can't risk a Sistah Souljah moment,  even as the white majority gently -- ever so gently -- pushes back on the idea of local lawmakers driving with out-of-state licenses, and trying to play the victim card...

The Biden's don't need any part of that right now.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — First lady Jill Biden’s planned visit to the Twin Cities has been canceled.

The White House announced Sunday that Biden would visit the Minneapolis-St. Paul area on Friday. Tuesday evening, the White House said Biden “will no longer travel” to Minnesota.

No reason was given for the cancellation, and details on Biden’s visit were never released.

In other Minneapolis news, the owners of the empty former Calhoun Square property (renamed, like with the lake, to avoid the continual honoring of former vice president and slaveowner Calhoun), decided to promote community peace by ripping out with bulldozers a community garden site they had earlier permitted to be planted by local activists mourning the deaths of Winston Smith by local sheriff deputies working a Federal Task Force, and a peaceful protestor killed when a car slammed into her earlier this year.

I get that the Uptown community does not like hosting the community gatherings anymore, and they cite litterings, arson, noiseplaying, etc.  But ripping out the garden, without letting the people know first, and staffing up with police and barricades because now, you're done and it's over?

Seriously, does that work in your world?  Rip up a garden to promote peace, and go back on your word without any notice?  It's a risky strategy, and I understand why First Lady Biden and national Dems would want to avoid Minneapolis these days.  The  white liberals and the B/black community still have a lot of work to do.  Let's hope it gets better before it gets worse?  A rainyish day here today... but I suspect the activist organizers are making plans too as we speak.

I don't think uprooting the community garden is going to bring Uptown peace, but maybe the good people living and protesting there will prove me wrong. (?)

ADDED:  Worth watching the video to see the concern expressed by the older gay white male on the bike dismissing the two killings "it was a bad chain of events, and it's hopefully over..."  No wonder "Bill" wouldn't give his last name with those comments.  Betcha he doesn't even see  how he comes across... Sad.  Minnesota nice man too.

And MORE:  WCCO updated their report for a later afternoon news show and cut much of "Bill's" offensive comment about... "it's hopefully over".  I'm not even sure it's over in your backyard Bill, (NIMBY) much less "over".

The white liberals are always sympathetic it seems until they actually have a stake in what's happening to fellow citizens on their streets.  Uptown is kinda fake like that, the older Bill's that populate it, not so much the newer, more independent and streetwise crowd moving in...

Uptown Funk You Up...I Say UPtown Funk You Up!

Who remembers -- I do! -- "Oops, up-side your head! I said oops upside your head!"

Same rhythmic track, and the older song had an earworm and a beat.  If you remember the tune, gotcha!  (Oops, upside ya head, I said oops upside your head!) ~The Gap Band, circa 1979 -- I Don't Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (oops!)

Now I want all you gappers, and you finger snappers
You toe tappers, and you love lappers
(Say oops upside your head, say oops upside your head)
I want you all to sing this with me, sing!

"You Dropped a Bomb on Me, Baby" was another one of theirs. Remember?
