- "Start Me Up" *
Released: 14 August 1981- "Waiting on a Friend"
Released: 30 November 1981
The funny thing is, it seems perfectly normal in junior high in the 80s to have cheer routines set to Another One Bites the Dust, or rhythmic dance routines bouncing to Start Me Up or Let's Get Physical...
I was never much for the bouncing or stretching, then, and still can't do a kart-wheel to save my life, but if you held out all week, there was the trampoline on free-day Friday! Hold out for that trampoline, friends. Oh, and Thursday is steak night at my local Hy-Vee this summer (except they're cooked indoors now; someone stole the 'uge! black metal grill from in front of the building one night... Truck with covered plates, backed up to the (left unlocked) trailer, hooked up, and drove off, all on camera, employee sources say.
Sad, but they're keeping the $8 steak promotion going, and it's a good meat department in the Iowa-based store. You're on your own getting through Wednesday though.

* Blech. Good movie, sappy song:
In the US, "Start Me Up" spent three weeks at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October and November 1981, the Stones' biggest hit of the 80's in the States. The two songs that kept it from number one were "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" by Christopher Cross and "Private Eyes" by Hall & Oates.
