Absurdity.

Hey, I'm all for keeping campaign promises but can't you see how this looks?

Private companies might have a candidate ideal in mind too, but they can't openly announce that a position will be limited to a person of a certain sex or race.  That's illegal.

It sure seems like the government is pulling a fast one here, by apparently not even pretending to consider other qualified candidates -- and announcing it so forthrightly.

The United States government is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate against any employee or job applicant on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, or for any other discriminatory reason.

I mean, how hard is that?   I'll be glad when they stop labeling us, dividing us, and making discriminatory hiring choices that are not seen as normal in the 21st century working world.

Oh boy, that Big Change is about to come...

This justice might be the last affirmative-action hire for a long while at the top levels if Joe Biden sticks to his words.  He's kinda politically screwed either way like that, but he boxes himself into these situations.  (*cough, cough, Ukraine,)

Eyes open, on the ball...

ADDED:  If it's political payback time, it's Judge Childs then.  She's to the far left in the photo above, but most looks the "moderate" of the three.  Looks matter, a lot, in identity politics.

  1. Representative James Clyburn, a Biden ally, has pushed for Judge J. Michelle Childs of the Federal District Court in Columbia, S.C., a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s law school and a former law firm partner who also worked in state government.
