"My Finest Day Is Yet Unknown": Whitney.

Fans of war, big-boy sporting events, and ... propaganda really, are touting Whitney Houston's lip-syched performance (love those quivering expressions!) at the 1991 Superbowl in Florida as a "best" performance, back in the day when dropping to your knees for America was unheard of.  ("Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees...")

Not me.  This is Whitney at her best:  "One Moment in Time" at the 1989 Grammys.  In the SuperBowl performance, you can see she is drugged up and playing for a war crowd, a few days into the first war America had welcomed since VietNam ("God is watching us... from a distance").

The crowd didn't love her, they loved her performance that day, live on tape.

At the Grammys when she finishes, you can tell:  the crowd loved HER.  If you're touting the former, at least listen to the woman at her peak.  "I will be free... I will be... I will be FREE."

That's America at her best, not the war-propaganda tape...

Keepin' it real.
