What a Ho !

Federal judge scheduled to speak to law students on "Fair Weather Originalism:  Judges, Umpires and the Fear of Being Booed" hijacked the topic of his own speech to send a clear political message, "I Stand With Ilya Shapiro !"

Nevermind the young scholars who likely thought they might hear a fair analysis of the Roberts Court, judging by the title...

At the outset, according to prepared remarks exclusively obtained by National Review, Ho said he “was scheduled to talk” about originalism, “but I hope you won’t mind that I’ve decided to address a different topic today instead.”

Why in the world would a federal judge think its ok to politicize his personal views, particularly about an "insular and discrete minority" that many African-American defendants still might be viewed as?

Does the judge just not see many Black women in his courtroom, so he isn't "afraid of being booed" for announcing his biases up front?

Does he regularly put his personal opinions on display, over judicial professionalism, in giving speeches off script and making what are essentially political postures, "I Stand with Ilya!"

Georgetown would have been wise to part ties with Mr. Shapiro, like, yesterday...

It's clear now that the school is sacrificing scholarship for petty political gameplaying, putting the needs of petty adminstrators before the paying students there to learn, not be pawns in the games of people being paid to put their needs first.

"Fair Weather Originalism:  Judges, Umpires, the Fear of Being Booed" was the topic the group at the school approved, and likely paid for.  That was the topic advertised on the flyer that invited people in.  Ambushing them with a silly, "I Stand with Ilya" rally by Judge Ho is not the way to build a catholic constituency for your preferred values and biases...

The branding for inclusivity and serious scholarship the school has built over decades is being tainted in real time.  Why drive the Black student population away?

The school is better than that.  Get rid of Ilya, already, before he infects more student organizations and planned scholarship topics with his personal nonsense.
