Not Funny.

 Back earlier this summer, 53 lives were taken in the back of truck on this side of the US-Mexican border.  These are people, not pawns.  Right now, Gov. DeSantis is showing you who he is -- believe him.  He doesn't respect life as much as he pretends...

* As an immigrant's kid, I say:  let these people be.  Push for political change in Congress, which is tasked with making these policies in our shared nation.

Leave these poor people alone and push to change the system that isn't working for our country as a whole right now...   #StartSeeingPeople

*All that said, wouldn't it be wonderful if the people of Martha's Vineyard -- instead of calling in the National Guard for two planeloads of migrants -- could assimilate them into their community?  Enroll the children in school immediately, find work for the adults, and teach them English and continue to meet their needs as they adjust to America for years to come.  It really does take work to get a foothold here. Way more than an afternoon smilingly mixing with the newcomers, and giving them your old clothes from the closet.
