January 6 at the US Capitol was Child's Play
... compared to the day in America a police precinct was surrendered. Before the next Jan. 6 hearing, I would urge Chairman Bennie Thompson to spend an hour having committee members read this article in full, and watch the accompanying video.
Put it in perspective all you like -- this was the home precinct of the four officers later convicted of killing George Floyd -- but watch this one, Ms. Cheney, and think of the officers, the families down the street in the apartment building, the nearby business owners, the older neighbors in the residential area surrounding the precinct, the rest of the city and region, the whole country if you follow news on the ground in "flyover land".
Read and watch this in full, and then tell me why we need to feel so badly for the US legislators and security workers who escaped with their lives that day. Where was your understanding for we were going through in this part of the country? Why are your lives more valuable than ours?
Jun 30, 2020 — “The front has been breached,” an officer called over the radio just before they fled. “They're coming in. They're coming in the back.”
Yours was a "close call"; we had blocks that were burned to the ground. (Nancy got her podium back, right?)
It's really not a game, or just talking points to win an election. It is what people talk about, years later, and what they worry over while watching the politicians in DC talk us down and spend our money overseas.
America has needs that need to be addressed.
If we leave America's social problems unaddressed, this is the future in America. Pre-K and free food programs are not going to fix this. Nobody is addressing how we are going to protect all our citizens, and people are responding by buying more guns... This never ends well.
The Establishment politicians still in power refuse to focus on America, or take any action on their job duties (immigration, war, taxes). Why do they still have those jobs then?
They aren't really helping the country, but taking our money, getting rich, and installing their children into positions of "power" while the jobs they are being paid to do are left undone, making all other workers' jobs more precarious and unsafe. (Workplace rules don't get enforced for some and not others like non-citizens. They just don't get enforced for anyone. Fact. It's a downward drive for all when you start lowering work-safety standards, ignorning safety regulations, and turn your heads because the newcomer lives aren't worth much and all workers become easily replaceable.)
Is that the America you inherited? Is that the America you want to live in?
