Both were HATED because they weren't WashingtonEstablishment. They weren't predictable, they didn't ... "go along to get along" in the DC and NY power circles. They both went on instinct, following what their guts told them was "common sense."
The American people who put them in office appreciated that. They broke through, both of them, and for a short time, put the People of the country in the conversational mix. They brought us through the HardTimes engineered by their predecessors, and they Did Their Best to serve us, the country as a whole.
Donald Trump likely won't live as long as James Earl Carter, and god knows, he's more a sinner when the accounts are tallied. But... But, for a brief shining moment, the election of both men showed us what can happen when the American people tell the powers in DC and NY: we've had enough. You've fucked us over once too much. We want fresh voices, voices that hear our concerns and address them at least...
It didn't work out well for either man. The Establihsment made sure they both failed, and nobody threw their support or tried to really help either man in office. But both should be lauded above war criminals like Nixon, George Bush Jr. or even the "Good Message but he didn't dare to deliver and went-along-for-his-own-successes" Barry Obama, who has abandoned Chicago and all the little people he purported to represent just for an upgrade in real estate, and a successful personal future for his own daughters, no matter what...
God bless the Honest Man, who isn't afraid to use his voice to speak against the Power Player Establishment, call our their faults, and take the lumps they are dealt in kind for having that type of personal courage and stubborness. I liked 'em both. Glad they got in, even if in the end, they got crucified for daring to do so...
