Tell Americans Our Taxes are Running Guns to Israeli "Settler Squads" for Protection...
and I will show you an American voting public that pulls funding from our ally Israel faster than you can say, "Not in Our Name".
Israel wants 24,000 assault rifles. Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right minister overseeing the police, has given rifles to civilians and is forming “security squads.”
This proliferation has to end somewhere. Why not now? No running guns to the world to seize contested lands. That's not the American Dream, nor is it our foreign policy mission.
Israel needs to be encouraged to stand as an independent democracy without U.S. taxpayers continually propping up her extremist's land-grab schemes and defending such behavior as legally justifiable. It's not.
Send intelligence experts from the United States to help Israel track and regain custody of their kidnapped civilians. (Pretty sure, despite all the papering publicity, nobody is claiming they've been smuggled into the United States where our citizens should be eyeballing Missing posters and keeping an eye out for endangered children here...)
That's all the U.S. owes Israel in their current "fight". We should not allow our weapons to be used to justify their settlers continually gaining land for new homes for their favored peoples over displaced ethnic minorities who too have a legal claim to the land today. God didn't gift this contested land to anybody, despite the persistent religious myths, nor can U.S. taxpayers equalize the equation via our international gun-running today. Justice is justice. For all.
If you want to see peace in the Holy Lands, work for justice. Nobody is winning over there today, despite what the evangelistic American warriors promise or Netanyahu's current brand of Israeli politicians are failing to deliver... this is not a secure nor stable ally for the United States in the world anymore. The Israeli leadership currently in power should not be blessed by the American politicians currently in power who do not yet represent the American people's diverse opinions of our shared foreign policy today...
We need to focus our eyeballs and our pocketbooks on political issues closer to our own home. Let the Middle East countries work together to create governable, peacable regions there... God help us if the West Bank and Gaza turn into another Libya, where lawless tribes rule the streets and brute force settles disputes because any semblance of internal leadership has been "displaces" by foreigners arming the world and overthrowing leadership structures in favor of chaos for which only automatic weapons will suffice...
