Do you want to put money on that, NYT?
I'm pretty sure the majority of the Israeli people understand where Netanyahu's leadership is leading them... The people of the rest of the world will not stand by and let Israel take Gaza by forcing out the people living there. Surrounding neighboring countries will not take them in, and Israel will never eliminate all life in the territories.
Instead of prioritizing going after Hamas and getting their hostages returned, the IDF instead bombs Gaza, delivering destruction from above. Instead of a military strategy of chasing Hamas into the tunnels to eliminate the military threat, the IDF is afraid of losing soldiers and prefers to stay... above the fray.
Oct. 7 shattered the bubble that Israel will ever be safe, with Gazans living under seige in extreme poverty. The "peace" was never true peace, just another forseeable eruption in a land that chooses to prioritize its settler extremists over the wiser minds in Tel Aviv who live more secular lives.
So long as Netanyahu remains in power, as the face of Israel, the country will be hated internationally. The Israelis are due for a civil war, to determine who they are, what they want their future to be...
I would put money on the fact that Netanyahu will not last as long as Sharon, who held on in a vegetable state years after his disastrous policies were implemented. If Israel indeed is to have a long-term future, there must be less silencing, and more vigorous debate about the future of the country... and if Benyamin Netanyahu will be the face of leadership in the future. I have doubts. I think the Israelis as a whole are smarter than you think, and they aren't willing to sacrifice their collective futures by doubling down on military "strength" (which is impressive until you realize they are simply bombing unarmed civilians, and killing a lot of innocents, but not producing any proof that Hamas or the resistance is being eliminated as they try to wipe out Gaza for the taking...)
The tide has shifted in America. Future voter and taxpayers are unwilling to continue funding Israel's "defense" when we can see no peace in sight, because of men like Netanyahu who have not learned anything from the disastrous wars America was led into by the neocons here.

In recent days and weeks, vigils for slain Israelis have turned into protests over Mr. Netanyahu’s leadership. Calls for him to take responsibility for the intelligence failures that preceded the Hamas attack have morphed into a campaign seeking his resignation. A far-right member of his governing coalition, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has threatened to topple the government. Members of Mr. Netanyahu’s own Likud party have talked about defecting, according to two senior party members. And the United States, Israel’s closest and most important ally, has begun pushing the prime minister to limit the number of civilian deaths in Gaza.
Israelis Are Angry at Netanyahu, but Chances of His Ouster Are Slim
Many hold Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for his government’s failure to prevent the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas. His legacy could be determined by his actions in the coming days.
