Sadly, the time for action on this issue has passed...
If the police have the guns, and no accountability, the people understand now that they too need protecting.

HONOLULU -- Renewing his emphasis on the need for more gun restrictions, President Obama on Thursday will participate in a live televised town hall meeting to discuss gun violence in the United States, according to the White House.

The hourlong event, which will be held at George Mason University outside Washington, will be televised on CNN at 8 p.m. It will come days after Mr. Obama meets with Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch on Monday to discuss what executive actions he can take to curb gun violence.

Nice optics, but he's pretty much scheduled to be out of the country in the coming year, running out the clock...  That's ok.  We've all pretty much resigned ourselves to the country running itself on auto-pilot and prayers.

Don't get carried away with the inspirational events, Mr. President, cooked up on Hawaii time.  We thought you might be the one to lead on race relations, cleaning up the inner cities, and re-prioritizing America's youth and the future over the aging, increasingly needy, might-makes-right past...

You weren't the one.

Just don't get carried away with the promises and preaching now, because it's been how many years since the Sandy Hook schoolhouse massacre, and you're just now planning an optic, when the bodies are piling up at home now in the doorways and in the streets?

(I hope somebody at the 'town hall meeting' asks the president if he has spoken with the Chicago mayor about the Christmas killings, and pressured him to release the basic details of what happened that night, who the officer is, and how people can promise it will not happen again if they are not ready to own up to what DID happen... again.  This one won't be kept hidden, has the president yet informed the mayor of that?  Blind leading the blind?)

*  Comedians in Cars got some good ratings and a spotlight shine for pal Jerry, no?  Somebody else will have you, surely.  Jimmy Fallon, or Jimmy Kimmel, say? That's acting, just not taking action that could cause more trouble than it's worth...   You're so close to finishing, Mr. President.  Why start taking political risks now?

I do find this Ben Rhodes fella entertaining, I've got to admit.

“It would be better for our security if it was harder for terrorists to purchase very powerful weapons,” Ben Rhodes, Mr. Obama’s deputy national security adviser, said in a briefing for reporters in Hawaii on Saturday.

“At a certain point, violence begets more violence.”

Gotta love that last line... like he just read it somewhere or something. Lol.

In the summer of 1997, Rhodes volunteered with the Rudy Giuliani mayoral campaign. In the summer of 2001, he worked on the New York City Council campaign of Diana Reyna.

 Gotta admire an ambitious man who could market that into a foreign policy speechwriter/adviser role... lol!

Rhodes, who has been described as a realist by The Washington Post, wrote Obama's 2009 Cairo speech "A New Beginning"^.

Rhodes was the adviser who counseled Obama to withdraw support from Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak, becoming a key adviser during the 2011 Arab Spring.

In March 2013, Rhodes declined to comment on his role in Obama administration policy decisions, saying, "My main job, which has always been my job, is to be the person who represents the president’s view on these issues."

They must subscribe to the Jon Gruber school of "How Dumb is the American Public really?"    (An MFA advising on the Arab Spring... advising the U.S. withdraw support form longtime ally Mubarak -- how'd that work out partner, and how the heck does this kid still have a job??)

Betcha though some of the liberal ladies will fall for this... the homespun town-hall press conference announcing "violcnce begets (more) violence" and explaining patiently to Americans why the government needs to restrict their choice of weapons, as our police forces arm themselves to the teeth with military markdowns...

I wonder if Mr. and Mrs. Obama found a gated community in Hawaii to their liking, for their empty-nest retirement years.  They'll never live in Chicago again, that's clear.
