Redefining Roles.

The president and first lady have decided not to attend the Kennedy Center Honors festivities this year.   Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued this statement Saturday morning:

Each year, the Kennedy Center honors the careers and achievements of artists who have helped shape cultural life in the United States with a weekend that includes celebrations and events.
The award recipients are recognized for their lifetime contributions in the arts and the positive change they have made all over the world.
The President and First Lady have decided not to participate in this year's activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction.
First Lady Melania Trump, along with her husband President Donald J. Trump, extend their sincerest congratulations and well wishes to all of this year's award recipients for their many accomplishments.
Good decision.
It looked bad when the Obamas continued partying with the elites during wartime and troubled economic times for the rest of the country.  Let the Kennedy's have their ceremonies, but this is not a presidential job.

(Nor is hugging everyone who has a case of the national sadz after the recent death and civil disobedience in Charlottesville, Va. btw...)

ps. How about that quick resolution to the North Korean crisis, and steady demise of the Russia-Elected-Trump! investigation?  Our national media has the attention span of a summer gnat, flitting about...

ADDED:
Four police officers shot -- one dead -- overnight in Florida.

I hope the president continues to acknowledge these deaths, the price people pay in serving all of our communities.  I also wonder... what kind of police officer an ambitious, obviously loving young woman like Heather Heyer might have made.  We'll never know, sadly, as she too was killed in the mean streets of America just as her life's work should have been taking shape...
Remember all the innocent victims of violence taken from their loved ones here on Earth much much too soon.  Grant their survivors peace in our days... In Your Mercy, keep us free from all sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ...

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever...  Ah, men. (Eh, men?)

That's right: we pray...
    Oh yeah, we pray...
We got to pray just to make it today.

Time and time and time and time again
I kept on knocking, but
these people wouldn't let me in

I tried and tried and tried and tried to make a way
But nothing happened 'til that day I prayed,,,

That's right: we pray...
    Oh yeah, we pray...
We got to pray just to make it today.
