Spending Down their Social Capital...

Frankly, were I in BLM, I'd be pushing for much much more than removing statues of Gen. and President George Washington --- and Calvin Griffith for remarks he made in 1978 -- and the removal of the Aunt Jemima brand off my breakfast table because it bothered me... But:  their movement, their strategies, their social and political capital to spend down before the nation moves on to other, more important causes... like a return to addressing the CoVid-19 crisis that was rocking the nation before the mass protests hit...  I hope these symbolic gestures are healing wounds in the Black community, and the movement has not just been hijacked now by those corporate marketing departments offering brand replacements and taking private statues down.  But then, I am pragmatic like that.  Maybe symbolic change is all the black community can expect from their leaders, evidenced most recently in the Obama administration but pretty much practiced in all urban Democratic regimes of late?
