Braving Doubts isn't an uncommon expression.

 it means getting out there and facing fears, people who would question your very core.  Sometimes even, yourself.  

ie/An athlete who has yet to prove himself fully on the track, say, but who believes he is better than his current bests, even though nobody else might believe in him, is braving doubts every time he runs...

What kind of books are your reading if you've never encountered a character braving doubts?  Maybe ones with perpetually overconfident casts?  Good night.
