Meanwhile in America...

the restrictions have lifted and the summer 2022 temporary work force is being trafficked in to keep wages low and let American labor know who runs the show.  The New York Post reports:

As if the border crisis isn’t damaging enough, with 2.5 million illegal migrants having crossed into the United States since Joe Biden took office, now the administration is going to make it exponentially worse by unwinding the last Trump-era restriction.

The Title 42 policy, implemented by the Trump administration during the pandemic to allow border officials quickly to expel migrants on public health grounds, will be terminated next month, the CDC announced Friday.

Title 42 was the last tool border officials had left to stem the flow of illegal migration from more than 150 countries across the southern border. Now, they are anticipating a doubling or tripling of numbers to as many as 18,000 a day.

We know what that means. More secret migrant flights fanning out from the southern border to a town near you. ...

Another long hot summer ahead indeed.  Just wait... the Biden administration will acknowledge it and react -- poorly -- only after the fact, I predict.

Speaking of prediction...

Bret Stephens let slip this morning in conversation with Gail Collins, the first female editor of the editorial page at the NYT, that Michael Bennett -- brother of former NYT staffer James -- is considering another run for Dem president in 2024.  Stephens predicts he'll lose to the female Michigan governor in the primaries, but be selected as her vice-presidential running mate.

I don't trust Stephens'  domestic political instincts (he's more in tune with the global economy and security interests, based on his own background and biases).  But I'm sure he is in tight with the Bennett's and was permitted to "let loose" with this tip, alerting the Dems to who they should be supporting in the future.

(Bennett is likely seen as the moderate white-male politician who might be acceptable to the Dem voting population as a whole, and with the money backing him, and powerful friends at the NYT pushing his candidacy on the nation, who knows?  I note Stephens has him slotted as VP, in case he fails again in the primaries to gather momentum on his own, with a Female white woman topping his predicted Dem ticket.  Identity politics all the way down... and Stephens doesn't even identify as a Dem, just works at the NYT as a "contrary" conservative voice...  On the Republican ticket, Stephens has got DeSantis topping the Republican ticket, with the Black Tim Scott as the identity-politics shiny object, running with him as VP.  Except for that divisive gay bill, Stephens thinks all the international money being pumped into places like Miami make for a political success for DeSantis that will translate into a national victory for him against the woman/Bennett ticket he likely sees replacing Biden/Harris the next go around... It seems, if Joe won't promise to go as a one-term guy, the media elites like Stephens at the Times will work to push them out, and run a fresh slate...  Complete conversation here, except for that edited out part by Gail Collins at the end "..." .)
