Most Americans eat crap processed food because they don't take the time to cook at home for themselves daily and want a heat-and-eat option that has been likely been prepared months early in a factory.
Most Americans overeat.
If you want to live a longer healthier life, research caloric restriction while also consuming your basic nutrients and daily staples. Don't use food as a status symbol. (ie/Eat steak sparingly.)
That's why simple people often live longer with less health problems than the rich. You're killing yourselves with over consumption. Hth.

(Long ago cancellable food take from religious history: Stick to just eating the basic mammon daily, and not trying to hoard more for an extended period. You'll get to the Promised Land much sooner if you trust in yourself and your God to provide daily bread through the basic nutritional staples he provides your daily work... Don't try putting as much as you can gather today away just to try and provide a safe life for your kids in years to come either. You'll find yourself walking in circles unable to get to the Promised destination together until you trust in His ways.)
