Time for... a Cool Change.

Time for a cool change...

Time for... a cool change.
Well I know I know it's time for a cool, cool change...

Time for... a cool change.
Time for a cool change...

Best they can do...
is just re-arrange...
Time for a cool change.

Added:  And here's John McWhorter, limping in at the end of the week with his take on last weekend's one-sided fight.  It's sad when it takes the likes of a McWhorter -- who turned in an excellent piece on ragtime music and the relatable Scott Joplin himself -- to 'splain in a column-sized piece the take of the black intellectual on Will Smith's loss of control at an awards show, juxtaposed with President Biden's earlier blurtings...

Dang, who wrote that perspective better, faster but with whiter skin in a female body? ;-) *Hi John!  We see you too!*  Best stick to what you know, writers...

Poor John, in all his Black Male "We" 'splaining, even buried the lede this late in the week:  Pre-emptive violence in response to words is never acceptable behavior for a man, black or white.  If your wife won't tell ya, the world will.

What saddens me about John's intellectual perusal about Smith's manhood performance in the black community, which John -- everyone note! -- is claiming a part of!, is that:  if you're going to try and style it, nevermind sell it, as a purely intellectual, cultural exercise (which most takes wisely don't), you really then can't omit discussion of August Alsina's sympathetic role in the triangle, for it was he -- not Chris Rock who merely provided the spark -- at the root of Smith's buried rage.

(Alsina being the handsome enough younger man, the most innocent in all of this public mess really*, who fell in love with Mrs. Smith and was granted permission to love her openly by her husband, Alsina says, because that's how the married-with-kids couple swung for years...)(* think Monica Lewinsky, if you believe now -- like most, I think, do -- that Hillary likely knew of Bill's extracurricular dalliances with younger women, and openly condoned them in their arrangement, until their own secrecy veil finally fell and the presence of the notorious BlueDress in the hands of Republicans meant denial was no longer an option for them there...)

Back to 2022,  the main problem with McWhorter's thesis piece is: you can't explain black culture and the masculine "beef" style in the black community when you're writing --  Friday-afternoon quarterbacking, really -- about only half the beef the rest of the nation has been feasting on all week.  The omission -- where the writer doesn't dare to go -- is telling here.

How can you talk pride and smack, and the endless passion play of retribution if you're only covering one side of the story, one flip of the coin?  you just can't leave out the tarnishing parts and pretend you've got the full take -- that's the difference between brief but timely blog postings of individuals working their own world beat, and marked-up takes for pay, based on non-original works of your own.

Can't touch this.

Stick to your own music and words, john.  Develop your own thoughts and original ideas.  Swiping takes from others and presenting ideas as your own make you appear... whiter than you are, man.  Not a good look on anyone.

Stay in that lane in your fast fancy family car already?   Gotta know the rules of the road 4 u 'splain 'em, k.  We drive ourselves out here.
Just sayin.
