This Person Does Not Understand Leadership
In a world full of war, energy shortages, health crises and political polarization, our president is doing a decent job of keeping things calm.
Wars and energy shortages don't just "happen".
Strong leaders plan and prepare, and prevent when necessary. They don't use flattery to fundraise and champion those who will lift them. They observe and analyze. They tell the truth, even if -- especially if -- it is not what those paying them want to hear. (Many many NU grads went to Arthur Andersen Consulting during my fresh-from-college days. We knew what we were selling if we joined up with them, the number one recruiter back then on our college campus, where if you looked good and had the grades, you could have had a job.
(Even in Document Reviewing, we often get assigned young, idealistic associates from the BigFirms, telling us what they hope to find in discovery, as they prep us on the projects and train us on the protocol. Still I often wonder, are they True Believers? Do they -- after pouring through all the documents (the privileged/withheld ones too) and seeing what a case is about -- not understand, or do they just smile, put on the makeup and nice clothes (both genders), and just get out there and perform, because that's what they do and they have bills to pay, maybe a family to support...)
People who accept leadership like we have seen in this country for the past decades do not read history, they do not understand that strong leaders are not to be feared but welcomed. They don't dominate, but show the way for others to advance as a group.
A lone wolf is never a "leader" except of himself. They run in packs for good reason. Don't fear the leaders. and don't fear too lengthy a term. The pack will protect its interests and take down those who don't serve well and endanger survival.
America would never be in the position we are if we had strong leaders who worked to prevent wars and shortages, maintained secure borders with established boundaries, and provide opportunities for people to protect themselves through work, community cooperation, and fair distribution of resources that reward and encourage those who help provide for others as well as their own.
(It has nothing to do with being a dick really, but for those who have never really known strong political leadership in this country*, sadly, it's come to that.)
* and who aren't well read
