Israel Protests
or, "The right-wing scare Savoir-Faire... eez everywhere!"
Showdown Over Judicial Overhaul Roils Israel
Labor and business leaders threatened to shut down the nation’s
economy as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition tries
to push a proposal to limit judicial power through Parliament.

* President Netanyahu, meanwhile, is hospitalized suffering from a heart attack and subsequent cardiac surgery. Prayers up for Israel. The protests are non-violent and people are using their voices, and numbers, to delegitimize what's being done, trying to defend the Judiciary. Good luck.
Update: Netanyahu ... has left the hospital.

Prognosis for teh Nation... not looking good:
The hardline Jewish Power party, led by far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, dashed any hopes of a compromise on Monday. He rejected any compromise on the first part of Netanyahu’s judicial overhaul.
Ben-Gvir’s party — which holds six seats in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coaltion — said the government had been handed an “enormous mandate” to the pass the overhaul in November’s election.
