Why Can't We Give Ourselves One More Chance?
Watching some good friends scream, "Let me out!"
Chief Ramirez was attending a summer conference of the Florida Sheriffs Association, which began in Tampa on Sunday. The Tampa Police Department said on Monday afternoon that officers had responded to a report just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday of a man with a gun outside the downtown Marriott hotel where the sheriffs were meeting. Commissioner Glass called it a “possible domestic dispute.”
Officers “were provided thirdhand information alleging a male had pointed a gun at himself,” the Tampa police said in a statement. The man was identified as Chief Ramirez. Officers went to the chief’s 12th-floor hotel room, where he told them he had been involved in an argument with a woman but “had not displayed a firearm,” the statement by the Tampa police said.
“After additional questioning, Ramirez stated he had no intention to harm himself or others.” The statement said the woman who had argued with Chief Ramirez also told the officers that “she did not have any concerns about her safety being in danger.” The Tampa police did not name the woman in the statement.
I suspect as the wealthy retreat to private grounds and the social-safety-net spending in America is diverted to helping our wartime allies in their civil wars at home, police officers will be called upon to fix what's broken in our country. Some of them aren't up to it, as we saw at the US Capitol in DC on January 6 as well as during the Parkland School schoolings in Florida.
It's not a job fit for any healthy individual, especially with everyone tut-tutting about social disparitites that are often the root cause of the problems they encounter daily in their jobs. Nobody wants to do the work that needs to be done, but everybody's a critic telling you how to do things and collecting a paycheck for doing so.
Funny like that how we reward mediocrity, but always count on the "fixers" to come around to clean things up after the people being paid to prevent problems fail to do the jobs they're paid for. Btw, how's Congress coming with immigration reform at our borders? We've got enough workers in now, just trying to figure out where we'll keep em?
