Organization Kids tackle an oil spill.

Personally, I too am glad we have an intelligent academic at the helm, during our trying environmental times. Capping a leak takes time, and if there's one thing the academy knows how to play with... it's time.

The President will lay out a timeline; bring together the best minds to solicit possible ways of stopping the gushing. Right now, he's a stern Daddy: "Fix this mess!" he's told BP, "and get to it!" I'm sure they're doing everything they can...

Except, BP as I understand it, was leasing, meaning the property the 11 workers were killed on all those weeks ago, isn't so much theirs. Their incentive is more on limiting liability; wait and see, BP will be claiming (as they have already) that it's clearly not fair to pin the consequences of this spill on them.

Meanwhile, back in Washington, the administration wonders when it will be necessary for the government, not BP, to be directing efforts to prevent further damage, and begin cleanup. Remember: if these were live bodies, we'd still be in the Rescue, not even the Recovery phase. With that oil continuing to spill, nevermind cleanup.

Again, I'm glad we've got all those degrees, all that intelligence working for us in Washington. This is a close-to-home crisis, and the Democrat works those best. Like securing the borders, turning off an oil spill isn't an impossible task.

But as a cheery Organization Kid might tell you: "Nothing is impossible, unless you have to do it yourself." We'll check back in a few weeks, to see what kind of progress the Kids have made on the ground working with the corporate folk.

Personally I'm glad we elected this intelligent crew to git 'er done: I can concentrate on weekend plans, secure that the Kids are prioritizing and have all this intelligent leadership stuff under control. Social skills get you elected; working knowledge and common sense smarts gets the job done.

Promise only matters when you're still starting out...
