Can you at least try to do your job, please?

Cyrus Vance Jr. appears to be of the same mentality as President Obama: He might believe in something sure, but willing to fight for it? Hard? Even when it's not a sure-fire winning hand?

Pass.

Maybe it's the easy upbringing, never much really having to work hard -- fight hard -- for what you want, what you really believe. Passivity rewarded, leave the fighting to others.

And although prosecutors said they still believe that a nonconsensual act had occurred in the Sofitel New York, they acknowledged publicly for the first time that the case was not as strong as initially suggested.
...
Mr. Thompson, the woman’s lawyer, gave a lengthy retort outside the courtroom in which he conceded problems with her credibility, but insisted that she was still the victim of an attack, saying that her version of events has never wavered. He said some evidence, like bruising she had sustained, was consistent with a nonconsensual encounter. And he said her decision to clean a room was consistent with someone who was confused and upset in the wake of an attack.

“Our concern is that the Manhattan district attorney is too afraid to try this case,” Mr. Thompson said. “We believe he’s afraid he’s going to lose this high-profile case.”

ADDED: I think the message being sent to America is: Lock up your daughters. He's on a Southwest flight right now, freely moving about the country.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn will now be able to move about the country more freely; although prosecutors will retain his passport, most of his restrictive bail conditions have been lifted.
Oh and if you work in a hotel, ladies? Keep your eyes open for this one. He's got a track record, he's entitled, and the U.S. justice system is obviously quite ... purchase-able, because heck everything's for sale, and it's all about the money now. Might equals right, and Money spins the wheel...

Wonder how much exactly Mr. Kahn will be ponying up in political contributions for his latest "release"... At least Charlie Sheen was honest about what he was paying for.
After his hearing, Mr. Strauss-Kahn re-emerged, smiling at the assembled crowds, the expression growing with each step.

Maybe he was just eyeballing the fresh merchandise, eh? Pounds and pounds of flesh...
