Peggy Noonan Considers an Escalation into Nuclear War (Particularly if Putin Has Nothing But His Life to Lose)

Sometimes a thing keeps nagging around your brain and though you’ve said it before you have to say it again. We factor in but do not sufficiently appreciate the real possibility of nuclear-weapon use by Russia in Ukraine. This is the key and crucial historic possibility in the drama, and it really could come to pass.

And once it starts, it doesn’t stop. Once the taboo that has held since 1945 is broken, it’s broken. The door has been pushed open and we step through to the new age. We don’t want to step into that age.

--------------------

We forget what the U.S. gave the world back in 1945 --  twice! -- is a gift that others too may one day choose to open, to save their own soldiers.  We forget, that while America is always "winning" how easily the tide can turn, and turn bloody red.  We forget that one inane "leader" is not just a international laughingstock, but a powerful weapon to be used to kill millions, if there is no one to reign him in...

Ms. Noonan is well past her prime.  The former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan always made her bread-and-butter on turning a phrase, not predicting the future or having any intimacy with foreign policies and what comes next...

She errs, I think, in her following paragraph:  assuming the U.S.-led NATO forces are "winning" in Ukraine, and that the hardened hearts of the civilians-turned-soldiers in the region have the Russians on their heels, with or without the huge expenditure of America's War Machine.  She doesn't know history, can't imagine herself in another man's shoes:

We aren’t worried enough about Russian nuclear use in part because we imagine such a thing as huge missiles with huge warheads launched from another continent and speeding through space. We think: That won’t happen! It has never happened!

But she's right about one thing... the people who want this war will escalate.  The "genocide" in Bucha wasn't enough.  The threats of chemical-weapon use we allegedly "saw" in Syria, goading Barack Obama to get the U.S. more involved in that fight (which he wisely kept us out of...) did not do the trick...

Noonan is a 'Washington insider' now, no matter where she has chosen to retire to and live out her remaining years.  She knows propaganda and isn't too big proud to participate in it, as her career record shows.  We should heed her warning, and ...

Instead of escalating, and simply viewing Putin as the sole threat...

We should end this world war now, before something worse happens to others, and thus, to ourselves.  It tolls for us, the bell.  It tolls for all humanity.  Have we learned from Hiroshima and Nagasaki?  What exactly??

Most historians understand Truman's choice ended a war that would have cost Americans more and more of their sons, invading Japan and the islands that were proving so deadly as civilians and soldiers alike had a mindset to defend their lands to the last death.

Maybe, Noonan argues, Putin will be forced to do the same.  Just because we have concluded no one wins with nuclear weapons, history has indeed taught us otherwise, and given us a peek at why one might think it advantageous... particularly if the leader is weak, and has nothing left to lose.

The Western press asks:  does Putin have cancer?  Would he really choose that?  Maybe the next-level question might be:  would America and our allies benefit if we could convince the world, he would and... only WE can stop him?  Propaganda confuses and outright lies when it needs to advance its own positions.  Do people poison their own?  Do leaders sacrifice their own soldiers?  Sometimes.

The best thing Americans who serve a Higher Power can do now is pray that we are wise enough not to continue escalating this war, and to give Putin's people a way out.  And to realize that there is another way to Peace and prosperity, without having to claim that "Putin set off a dirty bomb!" in case we see that now, to convince the American people that we have No Choice Now but to go in... because the WMDs we feared in the opening years of this country... that never turned up ... are definitely in play now.

Both sides of course can set it off.  Only one country thus far has.  Let's take care that after the threat of chemical weapons and genocides and mass killings, that we here at home are  not manipulated by whomever into letting our fears advance our military choices.  The answer of course is to end the war, not bake our own sons -- your sons -- into another world war that it takes years for the world to extract itself from.

Don't listen to the propaganda.  You know in your heart what continued escalation will bring.  Again, Noonan will likely not be around to see it.  Your children will.  Choose wisely, and think before you believe everything you read...

The question that must be asked:  do you trust America and the Washington military establishment if they tell you "Putin and Russia!" have set off a nuclear-device in Ukraine, when it would so benefit our own country's ambitions into proving that because he is so deadly, we MUST depose the man behind it?

How far would the Washington establishment go in dragging us further and further in?  Joe blurted, "Go Get 'im" and that it's not Ukraine but Russia we are indeed after... I think our own neo-cons are hardened enough to sacrifice all of Ukraine, including using nuclear weapons there and blaming others, if it could convince the American sheep to follow blindly into furth#er escalation of WWIII.   Noonan tells us to "think dark" but of course, if we are already suspicious of the ways of Washington and Wall Street, and what they would do to open Western markets more quickly, we must question whether it is our own side escalating and again, choosing to... set it off.   God bless your babies.  It's not just Ukraine that has something horrible to lose at this point in history.

It's not too late to negotiate a settlement the world can live with!  #prayPrayPRAY... (while the evil amongst us prey, and continue to chant and cheer for More War!)  We have seen the enemy.  It is US,
