No Adult Americans Believe This.

No responsible American can vote for congressional Republicans — with few exceptions, like Senator Lisa Murkowski — for the foreseeable future because of the threat that party poses to orderly elections.  ~Sarah Vowel in today's NYT opinion pages.

Wait and see. This is so far past preaching to the choir, more like calling out "sinners" from the pulpit, and excoriating them -- falsely, and everybody else seeing it and walking out your churches never to return and hear you out.

Vowell is helping to keep Montana reliably red with overstatements like the above. And turning more and more free thinkers into Republicans who believe the power belongs to the people...

President Biden’s plea to rational Republicans and independents to vote for Democrats in the midterms, as a ploy to root out authoritarian Republican extremists, could persuade the already persuadable. But winning the popular and electoral votes in 2020 does not change the fact that he lost in about 2,500 of the nation’s 3,000 or so counties.

Respect your fellow voters.  Why so afraid of letting the American people have their say?  Do you get so comfortable being losers that you don't even try to persuade using reason, not mockery?  Is there more money to make in media bleating from the bottom rather than trying to reason with the people voting red?

Who does this person think she is? Liz Cheney?

------------

Speaking of, the Jan. 6 committee chair Rep. Thompson said he is ready to wrap things up in mid October, as we look ahead to the next election cycle and conclude that the nation has indeed accepted Joe Biden as president, the transfer did go peacefully with majority American supoort, and there is no threat that a fringe will overthrow Joe and restore Donald Trump to the presidency.  Now, we look ahead (there's a reason our eyes aren't always focused behind us) to the NEXT election, with faith that Ms. Cheney will accept the election results and encourage those conducting the hearing to accept that democracy is not in peril here.  (She wants to... fight on, and is pressing for more hearings about that dark day in January, two and a half years past now.  It's safe to come out, but it certainly was a scary day for our Congresspeople.  We acknowledge your pain, but we have to press on, for the future of our country and what we owe to the people coming up...  Onward, Cheneys (and please talk to her, Rep. Thompson, in private if need be, so she understands why diverse leadership is so important to our country at this time. Thank you.  This war internally needs to be brought to a peaceful resolution already, for the good of our democratic future here at home.  Don't they get that?)
