Moving pictures combine with sound to produce emotional responses in the audience.
Matthew Yglesias’s review published on Letterboxd:
I really appreciate the lack of exposition in this movie. If you make an exciting story that looks great, I don't think anyone really minds that there isn't a detailed explanation of why blood transfusions help the War Boys or how Gastown gets its guzzline or whatever. If anything, the fact that nothing is explained (and probably can't be explained) reassures us that even though Mad Max movies will surely keep getting made, we're not going to be subjected to a tedious Immortan Joe prequel series or something.
Excellent cast. Loud and lovely. You knew at the time, this was one to be viewed on the big screen. Don't snark if you missed it, Matt. Sometimes being timely with entertainment matters, plus sharing the excitement with other adults. (Fill in the blanks with your head, overthinkers.) Twice. And I never go to the movies anymore. Just sayin.
