22 more days til Halloween...

Went out last night. They wouldn't let me in the club
because I had no vaccination card.
Is that still a thing? Put it on your website then.
I live in the east metro, and while it was
a beautiful night, not worth the time and gas
to go home and find it and drive back.*
(People keep these things on their phones nowadays?
Or everybody going to events in the city just knows?
Sucked to be turned away at the door. But whatever, your rules.)

Came home and slept in the moonlight,
under a the most gorgeous night sky of drifting clouds.
The moon was in and out, all night long.  Could hardly keep
my eyes open to watch it.  Tonight it's full, I think.
-------
Yep.  Hunter's Moon.

Let's hope for clear skies and drifting clouds again.

* oh well, saved me the cover and the bar tab. I had the party going on before I got there.

ALSO:  The kitchen and bathroom renovations are finally done here at the Manor, and it turned out beautiful.  I am not worthY.  I especially like the darker wood on the kitchen cabinets, the flooring replacing carpeting in the small "dining area" coming off the galley kitchen, totally new kitchen and bathroom vanities (sinks and mirrors and lighting -- but too much light!  I am going to have to unscrew bulbs or buy softer nightlights... people like home lighting BRIGHT, I guess?  I will know I have "made it" when all the rooms in my home -- rented or otherwise -- are on dimmers.  Dream your dream!)

But it's a nice place here.  And you know who really made out well in the pandemic?  My houseplants.  I should shoot a picture, because it really is a jungle in here.  Just gorgeous with the light coming in, and the afternoon sun?  They are all at their peak right now.  Thank heavens I live alone, because while plants are beautiful, they can take up space, especially the ones that become tropical bushes and trees.

I am designing a "mermaid bed" -- just side rails to hold pots of Dracaena trifasciata , aka sansevieria.  If you put the mattress between them, it really does look like waves underwater.   Hy-Vee at the intersection next door to me, has a flower department, and if you shop there often, they get rid of plants and flowers as new stock comes in.  Oddly, like at a lot of stores, when new things come in they DROP the prices at first, I guess because they get so much, they have no room for it.  Then the prices raise...

Long story short, I picked up quite a few pots at $10 each.  Now they are asking $25, on sale.  And a few rubber tree plants, and other tropicals... It's healthy air in here, and I give them water at 39cents a gallon from the purifier at Hy-Vee too, so very few leaf blemishes and NO insects or other seedlings.

I might get in touch with some of the senior homes around here, closer to the holidays but before it really gets too cold to transport.  I'm thinking plant sales as a side hustle, for elders who are hard to buy for, but you want to give a living plant -- the gift of life.

yes, I really do have that many.  I split a lot, repotted many, and boy can I nurture plants with this southern exposure and the ability -- this really is key to healthy houseplants, friends -- to just leave them alone pretty much to adjust to their spaces.  Overwatering and too much light, movement really can do more harm than good;  people think they are "helping" and they kind of kill it with misguided "love" and treats and attention and stressors like that.
