Remembering the Day, America Almost Came to an End...

"A stolen traffic sign that someone had painted over with the slogan 'Stop the Steal 2020' and the image of a grinning skull with Donald Trump’s hair, smoking a cigarette..."

"... had an undeniable flair, even if its iconography was hard to parse. More poignant was a strip of blue fabric with the word 'pence' in white letters that had seemingly been torn—in anger? sorrow?—from a 'trump pence' flag. A white poster board was stencilled with... 'time to cross the rubicon.'... [Photographs of] graffiti... such as 'power to the people!' and 'where are you thomas jefferson?!,' along with—easy to parse—an S.S. symbol.... [A] photojournalist, Madeleine Kelly, donated the protective vest she was wearing when she was kidney-punched by a female protester who shouted, 'That bitch is photographing us!' When Kelly returned home, she found a slit in the vest; she’d been the victim of an attempted stabbing. For the record, no one at the museum seems much interested in acquiring the furry Viking-style headpiece famously worn by Jacob Chansley, the so-called QAnon Shaman (not that he’s offering it)...."

Whew !  We were so close that day, of all the days in the past 250 years of democracy, at our govenment being... overthrown!  and our American way of life coming to an end, for ALL of us, everywhere...

They thought they were just invading Nancy's office and leaving mean notes and collecting "souvenirs" but -- armed or not -- they were coming for ALL of us that day, our whole way of life...

We were so close to losing it all!  Like the woman who almost lost her life being stabbed at, and only noticed how close she was to death when she saw a tear in the fabric she was wearing that day.

It's like on 9-11, when everyone everywhere realized that they were only a heartbeat away from Death, because all of the buildings everywhere could have come crumbling down on their heads in this country because of the overpowering strenth of EVIL.

Why not a national holiday of Thanksgiving every Jan. 6 from here on out, so we can remember the day... we all almost lost it all!  This is NOTHING compared to those puny pandemic years, when people were dying by the dozens and our whole way of life was turned upside down.

Man -- this was bigger than Pearl Harbor.  Imagine if the insurrectionists had only thought ahead to bring assault rifles or form a strategic plan of attack... Whew. So close I tell you... we can't play this up enough!!

(How about a travelling exhibit, to all the schools in the nation, like they did back in 1976 with the Replica Liberty bells, so schoolchildren today will know and love their country more due to knowing the REAL US history!)

I really hope Trump is prez in 2026.  We would have a more patriotic party that celebrating overcoming Jan.6.  Who knows which elderly politicans will even be alive then to relate the tale??  Best start videotaping them recalling their memories now, lest they be lost (the elder politicians, not their memories...) Btw? I hear Nancy Pelosi's daughter is free to film.  Also, Nancy donated the stillettos she wore on Jan 6 to the Smithsonian.  Talk about cool under pressure -- she never even ditched her fashion pumps in running for her life that day, her daughter's rollling-of-the-tape for a pre-planned documentary shows...

If only they had called in the National Guard earlier to protect the Capitol, and had a plan of defense to protect the Capitol police guard too.  Whew!

* Seriously friends?  You understand that the protestors in Minneapolis chased out police, then burned down a police precinct during the summer 2020 riots, right?  And a library and a post office. And the violence went on for several nights in a row?  Even then, everybody here knew:  we would regain control.  The country -- nor the city -- was in danger of falling...

Is it really beneficial to keep hyping Jan. 6 for political reasons?  I heard they are holding people still, without trials, for their actions back then... That's how democracy really dies friends.  Not with a few loose screws breaking and entering, and stealing stuff and tussling with guards even, at the Capitol.  Less hysterical reporting, please.  Put it in perspective and look ahead, so we might be better prepared for the next attack, should there be one...
