Maybe Tie the Debt Ceiling Negotiations in with Ukraine?

Daniel Berehulak/The New York Times

It's all a money-moving game, really.  The Pentagon "found" 3 billion to ship in weaponry the Congress had not approved by simply playing gimmicks with cost allocations.  They "miscalculated" and shipped $3 billion more in weaponry to PR leader Zelensky, whose country is falling as he criss-crosses the globe collecting money for his war cause...

If the US defaults on its debt, temporarily or otherwise, presumably the war billions to Ukraine would be temporarily curtailed too.

Maybe this summer, the American people aren't so worried about what the men managing the money in Washington are?  Maybe most retirees aren't living check-to-check off their monthly Social Security, and if the soldiers do not draw a paycheck this summer, it's not like they will be out on the streets or starving, right?

Maybe DC should default, and rebuild the budget based on people's priorities?  Defending Ukraine, while the rest of Europe is stepping up and the fighting is going poorly a year and a quarter in... maybe we should stop throwing good money after bad over there??

The Dems won't be in national power forever. And the new breed of republicans belongs to a generation that does not believe in warring its way to progress, either for the environment or for human lives.

I hope Zelensky returns home and starts wrapping this up before the U.S. defaults on all the checks he thinks he's got coming under the Biden administration...
