Ballsy Move...

(I don't care...)
I Love It !

Senator Ted Cruz wants to use assets seized from drug lords such as El Chapo, the Mexican kingpin who was recently extradited to the U.S., to pay for border security and the border wall.
  • The idea: U.S. prosecutors are seeking $14 billion in drug profits and other assets from El Chapo. They also routinely seize the assets of other drug dealers and traffickers.
  • The Cruz quote: "Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border."
  • The acronym's meaning: Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order

"Who Could Hang a Name on You?..."

You have made my days a mere handbreadth,
and my age is as nothing before you...
Certainly every man at his best state is but a breath.*
Surely every man walks about like a shadow;
in vain he rushes about, heaping up riches
and does not know who will gather them.
And now, Lord, what do I look for?
My hope is in You.

~Psalm 39:5-7
----------------------------

* Don’t just waste your life's breaths trying to gather riches and staying busy because in the end, it will all be in vain.  Go through your life seeking and waiting on the Lord, doing what He has called you to do, and in the end, there will be a great, eternal reward, and your breath of life will have touched the lives of many people...  Be a river of life, allowing the love of God to flow through you into a thirsty world.  And put your hope in the source of that river of life, for He will never let you down...  If God is for you, who can be against?

-------------------------------
Drop a pebble in the water:
just a splash, and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center,
flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling
where the end is going to be.
Drop a pebble in the water:
in a minute you forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing,
and there's ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing
to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river
just by dropping in a stone.
Drop an unkind word, or careless:
in a minute it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples
circling on and on and on.
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading
from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them,
once you've started them to flow.
Drop an unkind word, or careless:
in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing,
and there's ripples circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart
a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy
ere you dropped that unkind word.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
just a flash and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort
on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn't believe the volume
of the one kind word you gave.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
in a minute you forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling,
and there's joy circling yet,
And you've rolled a wave of comfort
whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water
just by dropping one kind word.

Cleaning Out the Stables.

More American corporate news:
The Big Four firm has fired five partners, including its head of audit Scott Marcello, for receiving improper warnings of regulator inspections
Six individuals in total have been let go by KPMG after it discovered they had received advance warnings of what audits were to be inspected by US regulator the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
The leaks potentially undermined the integrity of the regulatory process and violated KPMG’s code of conduct.
...
Marcello has held several high-profile positions for the firm, including the America’s leader for audit for KPMG International, former board of directors and currently sits on its management committee.

In a statement Lynne Doughtie, chairman and chief executive of KPMG, said, “KPMG has zero-tolerance for such unethical behaviour.
...
KPMG later announced it has replaced Marcello with Frank Casal, who has been at the firm for 38 years. Doughtie said Casal is “widely regarded as a champion of professionalism and integrity”.

Hasta La Vista, Senor Munoz.

With the social media on fire in China, and more and more Americans refusing to sit back and be good Germans when they see someone who paid and played by the rules "chosen" to be physically assaulted, I just don't see how United CEO Oscar Munoz ultimately will have any choice but to step down...

This isn't going away.
Might Does Not Make Right.

Americans are tired of bailing out corporations over their own internal errors.  The blood and physical assault in Chicago -- all of it on videotape -- means this controversy is not going away quietly.  United will have to rethink their policies, and next time:  pay whatever it takes to accommodate the "bumped" passengers for their voluntary cooperation.

God Bless America:  this is not us.
---------------------

UPDATE:  Pretty words, pretty words.. anyone can mouth pretty words, Mr. Munoz.  You get the big bucks for that?

“Treating our customers and each other with respect and dignity is at the core of who we are, and we must always remember this no matter how challenging the situation.”

Meanwhile, Dr. David Dao's past is coming to light...
It has no relevance on how and why he was assaulted on that United plane, however.

#HonkIfYouMissTheTwitterEggs...

Backstory:

An egg icon that for years marked profiles of new Twitter users was gone Monday, a victim of "trolls" who often hid behind them to launch anonymous online attacks.
For seven years, anyone who created a Twitter account automatically got an egg icon as their profile picture, which they were then invited to customize with images of their own.
"This was a playful way to reference how eggs hatch into birds that send all the Tweets you see on Twitter!" the San Francisco-based one-to-many messaging service said in an online post.
Some people left the eggs as their profile images for the fun of it, but "trolls" who created accounts just to fire off abusive comments were known to leave eggs unchanged as well.
"We've noticed patterns of behavior with accounts that are created only to harass others -- often they don’t take the time to personalize their accounts," Twitter said.
"This has created an association between the default egg profile photo and negative behavior."
New Twitter users with eggs as profile pictures risked being mistaken for trolls at first glance, according to the service.
The new profile icon is a generic silhouette of a person, slightly reminiscent of a small egg atop a larger one.
"The new default image feels more like an empty state or placeholder, and we hope it encourages people to upload images that express* themselves," Twitter said.
