Engelbert grew up in the city’s Jefferson Park neighborhood. He attended Queen of All Saints School in Sauganash and graduated in 2010. Emily Carlson, Queen of All Saints’ principal, referred to him as a “police hero” in a statement she released.
“We are proud of Officer Engelbert’s response to the tragedy in Nashville,” Carlson said. “His career as a police officer and his response to yesterday’s horrific events exemplify Queen of All Saints school creed, which encourages students to act with charity, putting others above themselves. Queen of All Saints teachers, Stacia Kuchuris and Sherry Penkala, remember Rex as a kind, respectful student from a faithful, community focused family. The Queen of All Saints community joins the nation in prayer for the Nashville school community as well as all first responders.”

Following his time at Queen of All Saints, Engelbert attended Loyola Academy in Wilmette. He graduated in 2014.
“We recognize the important role Loyola Academy alumnus Rex Engelbert, (Class of) ‘14, played in the quick response to this tragic situation and pray for him and all our first responders who are called to a life of service to others every day,” the school said in a statement released by spokesperson Lynn Eagan.
“Loyola Academy joins the nation in mourning the tragic loss of life at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee,” the statement said. “Our community stands wholly against violence.
It's not just the GOP. It's a bi-partisan failure to prioritize and act. Yet we come together quickly to rush billions in "aid" to Ukraine. Go figure.
Remember, every few years we get to vote to reauthorize the leadership in power, or toss them out and elect people better able, and willing, to do the work needed in this country. To get the job done. To really protect the children, and spend wisely on their futures, and ours.
This ain't cutting it, DC. We see you. We deserve better leaders because nobody is following what you do anymore.
If the long-standing rumors about how John Roberts and his wife adopted two Irish children by circumventing other country's adoption laws are true, how can the United States really respect the Chief Justice who is supposed to be one of the highest pillars of our Rule of Law?
I know black people have own their issues but... isn't it a bit like the Madonna thing with the adoption of her son David? Some countries have peoples that are so poor other country's elites just come in and pick out the most preferred children based on national stock?

Remember when they promised American taxpayers that all the bills the US military was running up in the Iraq attack would be paid for by the oil resources in the lands we seized, and then the country was thrown into a decades-long recession soon after and we turned on the Republican establishment represented by the bush-cheney crowd and elected President Obama to get us out of the war mess and fiscal hole the purple-fingered, chest-beating, false-flag-waving GOP patriotic crowd led us? Remember the flag pins, and the "thank you for your service, sir" submissiveness the general population was encouraged to adopt, in believing in our "leaders" who -- they promised -- had all the confidence in the world in our intelligence agencies after the September 11 homeland attack?
Let's not do this again. A bi-partisan war the East Coast military lobbies support but that the American people know they will be paying for in decades to come... Think of the children! Protect their futures. Don't buy this lie:
I like that China is jumping in to support Russia in the American-Russian war in Ukraine. It might save lives in the long run, and encourage wiser minds to get back to the negotiating tables because nobody is going to win this one using weapons, including nuclear.
Imagine what the territorial boundaries of Israel-Palestine might look like now -- two neighboring countries laboring in peace and investing much less in military technology -- if Iran had been allowed to back Palestine all those years America was arming up Israel and providing her protection. Think of the lives that might have been saved if only our wisest minds had been more realistic about what military might can achieve, or not.
I can't imagine Americans would look at others and want to live less freely and more hatefully, with our children -- all of them -- mandated to serve the country militarily -- a religious state, at that. always fearing civil unrest in the streets, a weak judiciary that could be undone by nefarious legislators, and continual civil unrest among citizens, and non-citizens, living in our beautiful lands...
Is the American Dream dead? Have we sacrificed up our middle class and dreams of our children living peacefully in an inclusive shared society because we have to hoard up and hide out (and hate) because we fear what we've built and become in pursuing power? If we follow the ideals our democracy promises, we can live here so much better than that.
And even be world leaders again, instead of merely mimicking those who seem to put all their faith in guns over God now, in military might over wisdom and rights. Make it a great week, friends. And haters? You're never going to win, maybe invest your time and talents in making the world a better place before you leave it? Nobody gets out of here alive, remember.

Update 2023:
Another set of updates, for athletes with differences in sex development (DSD), could impact up to 13 current high-level runners, WA President Sebastian Coe said. They include Semenya, a two-time Olympic champion at 800 meters, who has been barred from that event since 2019.
Semenya and others had been able to compete without restrictions in events outside the range of 400 meters through one mile but now will have to undergo hormone-suppressing treatment for six months before competing to be eligible.Coe conceded there are no easy answers on this topic, which has turned into a societal lightning rod involving advocates who want people assigned female at birth to be able to compete on even footing and others who don’t want to discriminate against transgender and DSD athletes.
“All the decisions we’ve taken have their challenges,” Coe said. “If that’s the case, then we will do what we have done in the past, which is vigorously defend our position. And the overarching principle for me is we will always do what we think is in the best interest of our sport.”
